Dr Aung received her Medical Doctorate (M.D) degree from Meharry Medical College, USA and completed her General Pediatrics Residency from the University of Minnesota, USA in 1999. Her Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the world renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weil Cornell Medical College-New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York was from 1999 to 2002. She was also appointed as a Chief Fellow in 2002.
She has more than 13 years of experience in caring for children prior to joining PCC, Dr Aung worked in the Departments of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at National University Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She was the Principal Investigator of several studies funded by the Singapore Cancer Syndicate-A Star, Singapore Cancer Society, and National Healthcare Group and was a recipient of NHG Young Investigator Award in 2007. She has published her work in osteosarcoma, neuroblastoma, and various childhood solid tumors in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer, and Pediatric Blood and Cancer. Her teaching commitments included clinical tutor at National University of Singapore, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS graduate Medical School, and guest lecturer in Advanced Diploma- Nursing at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
Dr Aung is a member of American Society of Pediatric-Hematology and was affiliated with Children’s Oncology Group (COG). She is extremely dedicated to providing the best and individualized care to the young children and young adolescents with various cancers.
